I myself managed to apply some counter magic, however, looking at my visitor stats, some people are still desperately looking for them. But all they can find is a website redesign comp I proposed to the client 2 years ago.

I noticed that the entry on my Minerva logo design from 2007 has received a couple of hits from search engines recently, which reminds me to add some brief follow-up on this project.

Last year, when the illustration was about to be reused for a branding project, I applied some modifications to it: I tweaked the helmet to add a more natural perspective to it and redrew the plume because I thought it looked haphazard.

Sadly, the project was put on hold indefinitely, so my goddess is still unemployed.

Illustration and coupon design for the Vakvarjú restaurant chain in Budapest.

Vakvarjú literally means 'blind crow', hence the restaurant's mascot and logo, but the name itself comes from a popular nursery rhyme and a kind of dish served in the restaurant.

I volunteered to design a poster for a mid-term party organised by a couple of daring students of the nearby university back in 2005. I would probably take a bolder approach today to depicting Santa Claus persuing unusual pleasures, but anyway, it came out nice and most of all, my clients were satisfied.

From Fake postcard

This was a recent art school project: create a fake foreign postcard using digitally unaltered photos taken in your home area. It had to be sent in by mail, too.

I got Vietnam, which was a tricky one since it's so very different from Central Europe. The closest link I could find was communist/industrial Vietnam.

We had 3 weeks to complete the project but I did it really quickly to leave ample time for printing and postal delivery. So I took the pictures in one afternoon within 2 kms of where I live and put the card together overnight.

It was printed on 250 g Super Gloss paper.

The arrangement on the front was inspired by the ornaments on one of the gates of the university in Hanoi. The little oriental character on the back was traced from an original piece of Vietnamese folk art I found on Flickr.

From Fake postcard

The sign on the front is the name of some traditional Vietnamese dish that translates to "Steamed dog's meat", it's repeated on the back side and the additional line is a Vietnamese proverb saying "Eat as [little as] a cat". I think.

Roma research project -- layout

We have a couple of website projects in the pipeline and one of them is an online summary of a social and cultural research project on the gypsies in Hungary. I have just submitted this layout to the client, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Here's an early version which I had done hastily and having almost no information on the project at that stage -- as specifications were getting clearer, I most happily threw it away.

The colour scheme is derived from the Roma flag.

I've been kindly commissioned by my friend Béla Kollár of Euroinstruments to do a logo redesign job for one of their clients. This is one of the concepts that were rejected by the client.

The logo is based on the historical iconography of Minerva, Roman goddess of craftsmanship and wisdom (and lots of other things as well). I found that most antique portrayals are rather unclear about the structure of the helmet she's wearing. It took me some researching to realise that she was supposed to be wearing a so-called Corinthian helmet, a symbol of glory and heroism at the time, tipped upward over her forehead.

Baby swordfish illustration

I've just designed some baby rompers for a couple of friends in our sailing team who are becoming daddies this year.

My initial sketches looked like this:

However, I soon came to realise that they had nothing to do with swordfish but looked more like mutant dolphins or something. So I rechecked my references and came up with this sketch:

There was still something fishy about it though. So eventually, I changed the proportions of the body to give it a younger and more vivid look.
